As much as I love Zhao Liying, not sure if this is a miscast. With her baby face and tiny frame, she’s not very convincing as a warrior character. Was she cast due to her popularity or is she the best for the part?

    • Redniku

maybe she wanted to try something different? some actors try and get out of being typecast… I think she’s doing good so far considering we’re used to seeing her as the “cute baby face” in her other dramas. I’ll admit that the part where she’s holding the banner in her tiny little hand is kinda weird

      • simplegal88

Have you watched Rookie Agent Rogue? She was beautiful there too but not convincing with her baby face.

        • Redniku

I’ve heard of it but never watched it since I’ve never been a big fan of war type shows. Is it worth it watching?

          • simplegal88

absolutely, I would say the story is more intriguing then this. I was constantly sitting edge of chair and biting nails. You will be cheering her on constantly and her wardrobe is to die for.

          • Redniku

i’m definitely gonna check it out then! especially since it’s complete and I can binge watch it 🙂

    • psp

In the book she written as an 8 year old lol… maybe that y they want her beautiful baby face lol

      • Tenshi Miyuri

yes! ZLY is the closest artist to portray CQ physically

    • azie abdullah

Well..i love her regardless..her beautiful baby face may fool those stupid lords who only look at her as someone cute and meek rather than a girl with awesome kungfu and an assassin..😄

    • ZeeD

She has done an excellent job and I cannot see anyone else in this role. Sometimes is not in the size but on your skills. She took that big guy down at the hunt in no time. My grandma always said the bigger the faster they fall. David killed Goliath with one stone.

    • Jskinz

That’s why I like that her size is constantly addressed. She keeps getting called frail and skinny. If you watch her she usually fights “dirty” to make up for her lack of size. If you think about it her size makes a lot of sense. When she was a child her mother trained her harshly. So her body would be muscular but wiry from all that training. Then she went to live with that family, although they weren’t starving they would’ve been far from rich, so she probably didn’t get much protein once puberty hit, but she still practiced. Which would mean she wouldn’t bulk up but remain lean. Then she was a slave, so she got scraps, but once again trained harshly under YuanYue. Then she lived with YanXun who was constantly under threat of poisoning, so again not much to eat while training hard preparing for the 3 year sentence to end. Skinny but tough.

As far as baby faced, the character is young. When we were first introduced to her during the slave run she was a teenager. We learned YanXun is only 23 when the King decided to marry him off to the Princess, she is definitely younger than him. So she’s somewhere between 19-22.

      • simplegal88

You are right, totally forgotten about the age factor. Love the way you fill in the details.

    • Tenshi Miyuri

If you’ve read the novel CQ is a malnourished 8-year old kid (yes, a kid! in novel, main casts are kids!), pale and she’s not good at combat actually, but because of her expertise and experience when she is on her future self (there is time travelling) and YWY’s training of her she did well in combat.

For me, ZLY is the perfect CQ on this drama.

      • Mars

Where can we read the novel online?

        • Tenshi Miyuri

just google it, unfortunately there were only 37 chapters translated in english

  • ThenAgain…

Princess is a terribly selfish and shallow person but no woman deserves that awful fate. She didn’t need to brutalized to be snapped out of her bubble of naivety. I think seeing her brother taken out in front of her should have been enough. Even if it’s historically accurate for the period – I hate these kind of scenes and question the plot value of it.

    • ZeeD

Yes, but now she wants CQ dead after she helped her and her brother!!

      • oppa lover

Still as shallow and ungrateful as she was in the very beginning. If she wants to blame someone the finger should be pointing at dear daddy and no one else.

        • Tenshi Miyuri

          agree!

  • Palad Edel Christian

    when will it be subbed?

  • simplegal88

  • Jskinz

The Princess and Prince are so annoying.

The Princess didn’t deserve that, but good lord did she need and she still does need a knock upside the head. YanXun never liked her, he never implied he liked her, he told her he didn’t like her, and so did several other people. Her father killed his entire family, and he went to war on their wedding day. How could he make himself any clearer? She told her father she would let him go, then she ran and said the same thing as he left the city. So what in the world made her go change into that stupid Yan dress and hit the road on her own?

Then the idiot Prince assumed YanXun had her, when if he wanted her he could’ve taken her at any time. There would’ve been no reason to send anyone to kidnap her later on. He honestly deserved to lose his arm. He infiltrated the camp but didn’t look for his sister first, then stabbed YanXun with a poison knife. He’s lucky they didn’t cut off his head. Then in his delirium he’s dreaming of Chu Qiao. Again, she turned him down several times including the day of the fight.

I hate that those men who were told to take them back were rapists. But if I was in the group I would’ve been down to kill them too, quickly and as painlessly as possible. There is no way I would risk myself to take two idiot enemies back home. Because as they proved mercy and the truth is lost on them, and now they are seeking vengeance against people who never had it out for them in any way.

    • michoerly zhj

I completely agree, I thought .. why she still is follow him when he always say that he doesn’t like her? he was very explicit ” I never love you”, but she think love is something that necessary you can impost? She really is out of her mind. And then her stubbornness led her to a very sad ending.

    • ZeeD

      Totally agree!

    • oppa lover

The little airhead brought it all on her stupid self. She has no one to blame except her stupid ass. Now she wants to pin all the blame on A’chu. Crazy little bi+ch.
As for yuan Song you said it all I have nothing to add on.
I am now worried about Yan Xun . I think he has totally lost it. He is now crazy. After all the xiulu army did he still intends to kill them . He still treats them as traitors. Even that ms Yu tried to talk sense into his thick scull but he remained adamant. I now wonder how far he will go with his revenge. He will not stop till he wipes the entire Wei state. I am really wondering how far he is willing to go.

    • Tenshi Miyuri

the princess is stupid but it really hurts me knowing that she was raped. I really hate it

    • azie abdullah

Spot on mate!! Chuner just a girl that cant take “no” as an answer..just a bit sad to see yx getting merciless especially to xiuli army..i think this will be one thing out of many other reason that make cq leave him..just sad to see the good relationship going sour just because of revenge..

  • Gem Hernandez

Ohhh the subtitle is ahead,, please fix, thank you,,

  • Nelva Verano Thomas

ep 42 sooo sad, even the horse is sad. Riveting!

  • Mfale

Is it just me ? the death of Yuewen Huai role felt he died to easy, for all the bad bad things he done, him being killed by Xinger in that way just wasn’t enough for me. I wanted him to die a very very painful death just like his grandfather, he was one very evil person mostly behind killing of innocent slaves,Prince Yan’s Father and the whole clan and leaving the baby in the box to die he was just pure evil, i would rather see Xinger after killing cut him up, chop off his head and feed it to the wolves would have been more satisfactory for me. haha

  • oppa lover

Finally Yuwen yue has broken free from the tyranny of the that old man. Finally he has the old geyser off his case and stood his ground, about time anyway. At least something good worth celebrating came out of this episode.

    • airisu

August? Last I read it was January 2018 so I had totally chucked it off my mind and off my radar. Ahaaa what a pleasant surprised. Hopefully it will be subbed in time.

          • jude

The original air date was 2018 now they change to August. I was check the upcoming Chinese drama of July and August I saw the King’s Woman hopefully it would be good.

          • oppa lover

            Hopefully…

          • simplegal88

Notice their pass body contacts happened mostly in their bed chamber almost like their martial art foreplay. And the way the scenes were shot always a bit too sexual for their time.

          • jude

True it makes the drama interesting 😍😍😁😁. Have you seen the Chinese drama Athena 2013 that one has a best action scene and amazing chemistry with a hot scene. The hot scenes seems like a little Chinese version of Fifty Shade Of Grey 😁.

          • simplegal88

You mean it makes a hot drama hotter ; ) No I haven’t seen Athena 2013, surprised to hear it is as explicit as 50 shades.

  • Roe

I know the character is annoying…but I’d like to commend the actress, Li Qin, for giving us a rather believable and more natural (than usual) portrayal of a bratty and naive princess, like Princess Chun’er… her facial expressions are meticulously complemented with the right hand and body gestures, even her constant pout..lol.

We’ve seen her as spoiled, naive, innocent and love crazed from the previous eps… now I’m eager to see how she would be as a cunning and vengeful antagonist.

There are few female villains that are so good in being bad that we really love to hate, I hope she becomes one of them.

  • airisu

Big,big thank you for the sub!!

Yuwen Huai dead just like that!!!He should have died a thousand painful deaths like hanging
    and then quartering or a poison(no antidote)that slowly kills…

CQ needs to really think about her loyalty to YX now.She must realize that it’s YWY who protected her all this time…

  • Tenshi Miyuri

revenge after revenge after revenge. They all need a vacation!

    • jude

Soon we can see sweet scene from Yuwen Hue and Xing’er/Chu Qiao. Bath fighting scene and sweet bed scene fight with a kiss😁😁😁😁 but that will be next week…long week end. Hottest thing I’ve seen 😍😍can’t wait 🤗🤗😍😍

  • Sam A

  • Roh Laren

Holy frikken cow, Batman!… Did the Prince not hear a single world Chu Qiao said?, Did he not witness the sadistic ‘killing field’ of young slave women, or his Father’s paranoid rages? Didn’t he know his Father sold his only daughter to hide his plans to annihilate YX? That poor boy, and by that I mean clueless, lived with blinders on, hell, he just doesn’t hear the truth CQ is speaking, he simply doesn’t have the capacity to see or hear it. Both so young and naive…willingly so (herein lies the tragedy)… they are so oblivious to the monster who is their father. The rebellion was forced by the very Father they believe in when he murdered YX’s entire family. Did they not see how ignoring this heinous act would breed blind rage, and a grief so deep and so raw it would poison? All made possible by the absolute insatiable greed of the psychopathic King/Father. It WAS ugly, horrible, a nightmare of heinous revenge, but seemed inevitable given the brutality of the times. Those two kids are still blind making it easy for them to blame it on the ‘rebels’. tsk, tsk, tsk… CQ will undoubtedly break with Prince Charming…but man, he’s so damn stunning…how could see leave him?? for that ice man????

    • Vanquisher

could it be ice man is better than prince in morale?

  • lazy-lilly

that princess bitch, I hate her why is she blaming Xing’er when everything is because of her father.

    • Vanquisher

she’s still jealous that yanxun like Chu so much

  • Hamnah Lei

Yah wut d use ov sub its nt clear n d vid olso blard lol 😂😂

  • MidnightShadow

Stupid princess chun’er: Chi Qiao isn’t to blame for the princess downfall..she was too naive and sheltered to see why Yan Xun did what he had to do. And for her to blame and have Chu Qiao killed…stupid. What happened to princess is terrible and sad but she only brought it upon herself. The king or queen did not realize their children had left to go to the enemy’s camp or What? Maybe we will get that in the next episode. But seriously. There’s doubt and regret in Chu Qiao’s eyes…an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

    • Vanquisher

maybe she still jealous of Chu sticking to yanxun
